Setting Up New Book

I know I said I need to focus on finishing 1900, but I set up a new book this morning. The working title is The 23 Psalms, A Novel. It will be a novel set in the recent past, before Covid, and based on Psalm 23. It will 12-13 chapters, probably about 24,000 words; about 1/4 the length of my other books. I finally found a book that describes Psalm 23 the way I wanted, so the reference material is there. I've numbered and named the chapters, but that's as far as I'm going until I finish 1900. As of last night, that one is at a little over 72,000 words. So, maybe mid-January it will be ready for editing. Patience, my faithful readers!

Medical Technology in 1912

How much, if any, 2106 medical technology should I add in 1912? What about plants that are known to have medical effects? Should my characters save any lives with their future knowledge? Do changes cause an alternative universe to form, or is what happens supposed to happen/did happen? What if my characters save the life that causes the future war? All conundrums to be resolved.

Well, the move to Amazon.com is complete for Baby SEALs Part 1. The ebook is available to purchase or read for free on Kindle Unlimited, and the soft cover is in review and should be available soon at a lower price than before. Yaaa! Good news for all of you who prefer paper books. On to Part 2.

Enough with writing four books at once

Well, I worked for weeks on four books at once. When they all reached 25%, I decided to focus on the 8th and probably final book in the Baby SEALs series. Progress has been good, and it is now 80% complete. It will go to editing soon, and I'll finish one of the others. Maybe. I've been thinking about the 23 Psalm a lot lately, and I'm considering writing a novel based on it. We'll see.

Writing a new YA Christian Sci-FI book

Remember the time before calculators when hi tech meant using a slide rule? I'm writing a new book where two people from 2109 are thrown back to 1909, and at one point they use slide rules. The last time I had one in my hands was the 1970's, and I vaguely remember the basics, but it's taking some research to remember enough to put the information in my book. Plus, how much would a reader really want to know, especially in a ranching community.

In a way this was brought on by our pecan tree, which somehow acquired some web worms. I wanted to know how high they were in the tree, plus, as an afterthought, how tall the tree itself was. Which brought on trig and the use of tangents in a right angle triangle. I still remember our physics teacher taking us to the microwave tower outside of town to determine its height. Who knew trig would ever be useful in the real world for anything. You know what the hardest part is? Determining the angle from the ground to the web worms and the top of the tree.
